What a grand way to finish an action-packed season – a team event where anything and everything goes!
The Ron Inman Memorial Showdown, held each year to honour a favourite surfing son of Shoes and raise money for the NSW Cancer Council, is a mad, fun romp in the waves.
There are four teams – red, white, blue and yellow. Surfers are randomly selected in each squad.
Four surfers in the water, one from each team, on a rolling basis- each surfer catching three waves.
A surfer earns a bonus point for his/her team by catching three waves and returning to the beach in under the 15 minutes allowed.
There is NO drop-in rule, meaning competitors can use any “dirty tricks” to stymie the rides of their competitors.
The points from each ride are aggregated over the course of the event.
The team with the most points at the completion of all heats is the winner.
Prizes up for grabs include vouchers from Puresea Surf Shop, and clothing from STC and Triple Bull – plus Cronulla Cinema tickets.
Entry is $20 per surfer – with all money raised going to the Cancer Council.
All surfers are welcome to take part – not Just Shoes members, so invite your friends and families to participate.
Surf check on Saturday 10 December at 7am for a 7.45am start. If no waves then it’s on to Sunday.
Let’s finish off the season with a Big Bang for Ron.
